Elon Musk Shares Blatant Political Propaganda on Twitter, Ending the Platform’s Hopes of Neutrality

Reading Time: < 1 minute.
Two of Elon Musk's tweets. The first reads, "For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and far left equally." The second tweet, also from Elon Musk, reads, "To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excessess of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic."

Elon Musk proves he understands very little of American politics, and nothing about running a neutral platform worthy of public trust with just a tweet.

On the eve of the midterm elections in the United States, Elon Musk used the company he bought for $44 billion to push his own political agenda. The man who, himself, stated that Twitter must be politically neutral to maintain public trust, has now eroded that trust, by telling Twitter users to vote Republican. You may have seen his tweet even if you don’t follow him. While I deleted my personal account, it was the top tweet on my feed when I opened the app for this blog. He’s literally forcing his thoughts on you now.

That’s why this blog will not be sharing to Twitter.

Might I recommend following Leaf and Core on Tumblr? It’ll also be available on RSS and even Facebook as well. Facebook is far from acceptable, but at least it hasn’t stooped so low as to throw any semblance of legitimacy out the window for a far-right political cause (yet). I still stand by good old RSS though. I use NetNewsWire to organize my feeds.

Remember, vote for the political candidates who uphold your ideals. Uphold democracy.
