A leaker with a decent track record, “L0vetodream” shared a few of their usually cryptic leaks. These are always quick and without much detail, but just enough information to figure out what they’re talking about. They stated there will be a “new color for Apple Watch,” along with fast charging for seemingly either a secret item or all of Apple’s items. Finally, they say they’ll be available online the day they’re revealed, Tuesday, September 15th.

Apple’s Event

Apple Event invite, showing a looping Apple symbol and the date: September 15th, at 10am PDTApple’s September event is usually for the iPhone and Apple Watch, with an October event for the iPad and new Macs. This year, however, due to COVID-19, it’s theorized that Apple won’t reveal the new iPhone until early-to-mid October for a late October release. Instead, Apple’s September 15th event will focus on the Apple Watch and the iPad Air.

New Apple Watch Features

We already know watchOS 7 features sleep tracking. If you’re wearing your watch all day and all night, when do you charge? Apple thinks you can charge your Apple Watch while you get ready in the morning and before bed. But current Apple Watches may not be able to charge enough in this time. I’ve found I can charge my watch in the morning when I get ready, but I also drag my feet in the morning, browse the internet, and need to do hair and makeup. Many Apple Watch users won’t have two hours in the morning to charge their watches.

That’s where the second part of L0vetodream’s leak comes in. Fast charging. They seem to state that it could come to many of Apple’s new devices. That makes sense. Fast charging is in everything now, and is practically standard on Android phones. Fast charging on the Apple Watch would mean 30 minutes before bed and when you wake up would be enough to keep your watch charged all day.

Low-End Apple Watch

We’ve also heard that Apple will discontinue the Apple Watch Series 3, their current “low-end” Apple Watch. They’ll replace it instead with some upgraded internals in an Apple Watch Series 4 body. This will be Apple’s version of an “Apple Watch SE.” In fact, that may be what they call the device.

New Color

Apple’s invite features a blue infinite loop that makes up the Apple logo as well as the date of the event, September 15th. It’s possible that this could be a hint that Apple’s new Apple Watch color will be a light blue. Colorful watches are popular fashion statements. Not everyone wants a watch that looks as though it’s made for formal situations. In fact, it’s why I’ve been tempted before to buy a bold and colorful Swatch, despite my love of smart watches. Apple could decide to target this market with their low cost Apple Watch series, creating a colorful array of watches and straps. It could also be another color similar to the “Pro” models of the iPhone, with a dark hue. It’s rumored that Apple will release a new dark blue iPhone 12 Pro this year, so it’s possible it’ll have a matching Apple Watch color.

iPad

L0vetodream didn’t have anything to say about the iPad Air, unless it’s covered under their cryptic message about fast charging. We expect the iPad Air to feature a new iPad Pro-like form factor, with Touch ID moved to the power button. It’s possible Apple could add a Touch ID sensor to all of their devices. COVID-19 showed Apple users that Face ID isn’t a good system for authentication anymore. Perhaps this is the beginning of Touch ID’s comeback?

Apple’s Time Flies event is on September 15th (this coming Tuesday). It’ll kick off at 10am Pacific time, 1PM Eastern. You can tune it on Apple’s website or YouTube.
