Phone Loops Special and Charity for Pride

Reading Time: 3 minutes.

Pride Phone Loops on phonesGenerally speaking, corporations are not your friends. During Pride Month, many try to convince you they are. Take Apple. Apple always has a presence during Pride. They claim to support LGBTQ+ charities year-round, and they do. However, a portion of their sales of Pride Apple Watch bands may or may not go directly to LGBTQ+ charities. That’s why I call it out when I discuss their new Pride bands.

But there’s something to be said for the companies that do contribute to LGBTQ+ charities for the sale of their Pride gear. It feels like they’re less exploitative of the season. That’s where Phone Loops comes in today. For Pride, they’re offering a 15% off discount on their Phone Loop straps with code PRIDE2021. They’re also donating $1 for every Pride Phone Loop purchased. They have quite a few options too, though, I’ll admit, it is a little sad to see the gay and lesbian flags missing. Although, again, in all honesty, LGBTQ+ efforts have historically been focused on us, so it’s nice to see specific support for trans, asexual, bisexual, nonbinary, and pansexual members of our community.

With each strap costing $7.49 before discount, it’s about 13% of the revenue from each purchase going to an LGBTQ+ charity. It’s not much, but it’s certainly more than most companies do. And, really, I can’t praise the Phone Loop itself enough.

Grab a Loop

Back in the before times, the long long ago, when iPhones were impossible to even hold with one hand, some modification had to be made for the monoliths to firmly grasp them. Some chose the Pop Socket, a device of legend, which added an expanding cone to the back of your phone, for your fingers to interlace with, providing a locking mechanism. Others decided they loved their phones, so they put a ring on it. But others saw the flaws in those mechanisms. They blocked wireless charging, and made your already gigantic phone even larger. They went with the device of legend, the perfect phone accessory… the Phone Loop.

Okay, yeah, I highly recommend a Phone Loop to anyone who still suffers from a comically large smartphone like an iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S21, Google Pixel 5, etc. Pretty much any modern flagship outside of the iPhone 12 mini. You know, those of you who can’t touch the edges of your phone with your thumb without nearly dropping your device. A Phone Loop really is the best way to add utility to your phone, and all it requires is that you’re already using a case. And you should be using a case, those big phones are going to fall a lot.

Pride Collection

Phone Loops’ Pride collection includes phone straps for the 6 color rainbow Pride flag, the trans flag, asexual flag, bisexual flag, nonbinary flag, and pansexual flag. There’s also a rainbow phone leash, which is a wrist strap. Each option is $7.49 USD before the 15% off you get for the PRIDE2021 discount code. With that discount, the $1 Phone Loops is donating is closer to 16% for an LGBTQ+ organization, Interligne.

Interligne is a Canadian LGBTQ+ organization. They feature a 24-hour service for providing advice and support to LGBTQ+ people. It was founded in 1980 as a simple phone line that people could call for support. They now feature support over phone, a text line, a toll-free number, and email, as well as a toll-free legal support line. Unfortunately, there are still many legal challenges facing LGBTQ+ people, from marriage and adoption rights to emancipation from hateful parents, name and gender changes on official documentation, protections from discriminatory employment practices, and many more. They also provide support for straight allies or parents who just want to understand their LGBTQ+ loved ones better, but don’t know how to ask potentially awkward questions.

Phone Loops is actually giving back to a charity directly for the purchase of these straps. I’d say that’s enough to give one a chance, right?
