But what if you don’t want to own an iPhone anymore? You couldn’t pay your bill at all.
Apple finally has the solution for switchers.
Card-Locked?
We often talk about how the nature of the Apple ecosystem leaves users feeling as though they’re trapped in a walled garden. Everything “just works.” All of my accounts sync, my AirPods jump across devices, my photos are shared, my backups secure, Siri on my phone can turn on my TV, everything just works. It’s tough to leave something like that behind. It makes tech a seamless part of your life.
But let’s say you want to leave. Maybe something on Android caught your eye. You can do it. Sure, the ecosystem won’t work as well, but the remaining devices will still work together. You don’t need to have every single part of the Apple ecosystem to enjoy it. If you got the Apple Card though, you would have been out of luck.
If you didn’t have an iPad or iPhone, you couldn’t pay your Apple Card bill. And, yes, you’d still be liable for it. Apple would likely allow you to pay for your bill over the phone, but you’re not going to want to do that every month. You don’t want to close the account either, because if you do, your credit score would take a hit. Instead, you have to just keep this useless card.
But not anymore.
Now you can pay your credit card bill on Apple’s website. Just go to https://card.apple.com/. There you can actually treat your Apple Card like any modern credit card, and pay online. Crazy, right? Credit cards, on the internet! It’s truly the future!
Apple’s walled garden just got a little easier to escape.
