A leak from Apple itself regarding a product from a prominent third party retailer also points to an immanent release of what we’re now all but certain will be called the “iPhone SE.” Apple will likely refer to it as the “2020 iPhone SE” to differentiate it from the old iPhone 5-based iPhone SE model.
Are you ready for some cheap iPhones?
Apple Website Goof
A leak from Apple itself shows a Belkin screen protector for the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone SE. Since the current iPhone SE does not have the same screen size as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8, it’s easy to assume this is for the new iPhone. Since it’s going on sale on Monday, we can assume the iPhone SE will go on sale on the same day. Why else would Apple have this product in their database already? If this was just a copy error, why wouldn’t it be available already, unless it was a new SKU with new packaging that listed the iPhone SE as a compatible device?
Between these two leaks, we know the iPhone SE is immanent. But could it be out as early as today? Perhaps! With COVID-19 cutting down large gatherings, Apple could plan an online-only release with little fanfare, like they did for the new MacBook Air and iPad Pro.
Gonna be honest, bois
I haven’t heard anything about an iPhone 9 launch tomorrow.
Literally all of my sources (inside Apple & outside of Apple) are saying announcement on 4/15.
If they announce it tomorrow, I would be as surprised and shocked as the rest of you.
We’ll see 👀

Still, other sources say Apple’s not planning a release this week. In fact, they say Apple will release the iPhone SE this month, but on April 15th. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that date from separate sources either.
9to5Mac can cite one anonymous source, but other leaks from retailers have pointed to new displays for this Sunday. Even Apple has hinted at a release on Monday through a leak on its website. It’s very possible Apple could reveal something today that goes on sale on Monday. It’s also possible that the leakers are mistaken, and the iPhone SE won’t actually go on sale until 4/15.
Stay tuned!
