Slickwraps Review: Just Don’t Buy Slickwraps

Reading Time: 2 minutes.

Three images of the messed up Slickwraps installationsI am trying to be a more positive person. Politics have always been bad, but have been exceptionally rage-inducing the past three (actually, seven) years. They’ll get better soon. Really soon, hopefully. NYC drivers are distracted and hog the road, but I still get to skate many days, so that’s nice. Work’s stressful, but, hey, paychecks!

But Slickwraps. I just can’t say anything good about Slickwraps.

A Shape Conundrum

Map projection involving "slices" of the earth to keep proportions more accurate. Have you ever heard of the problem of getting a flat map from a round globe? That’s why our projections aren’t perfect representations of the world. Our maps aren’t accurate. One of the more accurate projections involves slicing up the map, like an orange.

Someone tell Slickwraps they need more cuts.

Getting the corners around the edge of my AirPods case was all but impossible. They would then get too stuck and stretch or tear as I tried to reposition them. I tried twice, with steady hands under a light, and could not get these working. I’m an impatient person, but once I get started on something, I need it to be perfect. I’ll spend hours perfecting something.

I went online, and Slickwraps will send you more if you mess up! For a nominal shipping and handling fee. By that I mean over half the price of the wrap! $8 to “ship and process” something that costs as much as a stamp to send, and pennies to manufacture.

And that’s when I realized it. They didn’t include some kind of cardboard container to help you put these on. Nothing to help you line it up like DBrands or other manufacturers of similar wraps. There were no instructions in the box, just Slickwraps stickers and wraps. The wraps for the AirPods specifically don’t have any cuts in them to fit the shape of your AirPods. The installation requires the use of a hair dryer, which they don’t ever tell you. You literally have to fail, wonder what went wrong, go online, and find a solution after a search.

Slickwraps Profits from Failure

Slickwraps wants you to fail when you install this. If you fail, you owe them $8 or more! That’s more than enough to handle the cost of shipping and manufacturing of these stickers. It’s enough to profit off the replacement. Worst of all, they send you an invoice for the new replacement stickers before you agree to buy them. They want you to believe you have to pay up.

This is a scam.

Slickwraps are made to fail, with tricky installation and shapes and no instructions included. They’re priced far higher than they’re worth, and no matter how many times you re-order, you’ll still just pay more.

I spent my money and I got scammed. But here’s the positive side: now you won’t.

  1. Wow, what an idiot you are. I ordered these same ones and it says on the package and even the sticker that you have to remove to open link to instructions. Dude you just suck ass at installing. Not Slickwraps fault
