In U.S. politics, we often define a “Red State” as a state that consistently goes to Republicans in presidential elections, and a “Blue State” as one that goes to Democrats. But what about iOS or Android? What does that breakdown look like?
Turns out, in most U.S. states, iOS has the advantage according to a PC Magazine survey. Only 14 states were majority Android. In fact, 54% of respondents use iOS over 42% on Android.
Interestingly, PC Mag also found that more iOS users were female and skewed younger than their Android counterparts. 57% of iOS users are women and 43% are male (PC Mag’s ranking seems to have either only had those two options or did not receive enough non-binary results to say anything about them).
They also found that most iOS users still have Windows PCs, with 63% using Windows, and 34% using Macs. 90% of Android users are Windows users though.
Interestingly, less populous states were more likely to be Android users. These are also the states that are more likely to be “red states.” Previous studies have shown that iOS users skew more affluent, city dwellers, younger, and, yes, more liberal.
